An automotive position sensor detects the angular or linear position of a rotating or moving component and converts it to an electrical signal for the ECU. Hall-effect sensors are the dominant technology — a semiconductor element produces a voltage proportional to magnetic field strength as a target wheel rotates past it. Sensing Technologies manufactures Hall-effect cam, crankshaft and wheel-speed sensors with 0.1° resolution, 30 g RMS vibration rating and –40°C to +150°C operating range. IATF 16949:2016 certified.
